Introduced in the late 1970s, the Audemars Piguet Reference 6005 is a close relative of the Royal Oak but with a few notable differences. This reference was designed by Jacqueline Dimier who explained the birth of the watch - The temptation to introduce quartz in the Royal Oak line was great, but the management was opposed to it and instead created a related line, ref. 6005, that was rectangular with bevelled edge. It had the same bracelet and suitable finishing, but to set itself apart, the screws were replaced by four studs.
